John Townsend, the facility manager in PA, recently received the Warrior Helmet from his fellow warehouse team member Steve Krch, who said that John is always there for his team members, will answer any question that arises, and is good under stress. John is one of the COE team members who celebrated 10-years with the company in January, and through those 10-years, he has grown and developed into a strong leader, who is respected by everyone around him. Continue below to read what the Warrior Helmet Honor and working at COE means to John.
What does winning the warrior helmet mean to you?
Winning the warrior helmet means a lot to me. I don’t seek out recognition but it is an honor for someone to nominate me as the warrior helmet winner!
What did you or what do you look for when it comes to choosing the next recipient?
When I choose a warrior helmet recipient, I am looking for dedication to the company; someone who puts the company first regardless of the situation.
How has COE helped you to get where you are?
COE has helped me tremendously in my journey here. I was a regular dock worker, who worked hard with any job given my direction. The company saw the potential in me, and I always keep that in the back of my mind.
What goals do you want to achieve and how can COE help get you there?
My goal is to continue to grow and improve in the company. COE helps anyone who wants to succeed, so there is no doubt with hard work, COE will come through and make my goals become a reality.
What is your favorite part of our employee engagement programs at COE and why?
My favorite part about the employee engagement is bringing everyone together, whether it be once a week or once a day. It’s nice to just step aside for a few minutes and hear some of the ideas and thoughts your peers have.
What are you most excited for when it comes to our Penguin partnership?
I am excited for the Penguin’s engagement as it’s an experience many people will never get. Seeing our employees nominate each other is something I look forward to. I look forward to continuing this process and see how it plays out.
